Image-Based Flower Recognition: A Review of Methods and Challenges

Abstract Flower image classification presents a considerable challenge within computer vision, stemming from the extensive morphological diversity and subtle visual distinctions among floral varieties. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), alongside other deep learning paradigms, have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in surmounting this challenge. The objective of this paper is to synthesize and review the various contemporary strategies and methodologies applied to the categorization of floral images through deep learning approaches.
