Abstract | A LCV Petrol engine Hyundai i20 muffler is a part of a vehicle's exhaust system that muffles, or reduces, engine noise through soundproofing technique. Exhaust systems are parts of an engine's ventilation that transfer exhaust gases from within an engine's cylinder to the outside atmosphere. This project develops into the design and analysis of a commercial automotive muffler, a crucial component of modern vehicles. The muffler's initial design is generated using commercial CATIA V5 software, and then imported into commercial FEM software ANSYS 19.2 through a .IGS file format. The modeling of these mufflers is heavily influenced by the thermal performance of the material, impedance, and perforations. Due to the passage of hot gases through the muffler, its properties are subjected to change. Therefore, a thorough analysis of the muffler's thermal properties is conducted. Perform the various materials Stainless steel, Titanium alloy, Aluminium alloy, The heat transfer mechanisms within the muffler are identified and characterized. The resulting heat flow is found to induce variations in the muffler's properties. |
