| Abstract | Toxic intimacy, often disguised as passionate love, represents a complex paradox where affection intertwines with control, emotional dependence, and psychological harm. Despite increasing awareness of healthy relationship dynamics, toxic patterns continue to emerge across diverse cultural and social contexts. This paper explores the psychological and sociocultural dimensions of toxic intimacy, its manifestations, and its profound impact on mental health and interpersonal well-being. Drawing from interdisciplinary perspectives, it examines how attachment styles, emotional conditioning, and media influences shape the persistence of harmful relational bonds. The discussion concludes with reflections on prevention, therapeutic interventions, and the importance of emotional literacy in modern relationships. |
