Author(s) Dr. Sovana Mukherjee
Country India
Abstract This research study explores the multifaceted experiences of rural women in India, delving into the complex dynamics of their agency within entrenched systems of patriarchy and caste. The deeply ingrained social norms and expectations that govern rural women's lives are examined, including the ways in which caste and patriarchy intersect to shape their experiences. This research study highlights the ways in which rural women's agency is influenced by their social, economic, and cultural contexts. It also examines the various forms of capital that rural women possess, including social, cultural, and economic capital, and how these forms of capital can be leveraged to promote empowerment and social change. This research study's focus on rural women's agency and empowerment has important implications for policy and practice. By understanding the complex dynamics of rural women's lives, policymakers and practitioners can develop more effective strategies for promoting women's empowerment and addressing the social and economic challenges faced by rural women.
