A study on successful Medical tourism in India- A Review

Abstract The flourishing tourism Industry is no more restricted to just historical sightseeing, hotels, restaurants etc but is now very much applicable to health care services across the world. Medical Tourism is the amalgamation of two economic activities medicine and tourism, it is a phenomenon when different people travel across the world to get good quality health care services at an affordable cost. Foreign tourists from developing countries like USA, UK are reaching out to India despite being a developing country, which has expert doctors & medical team, staff & resources and adequate resources to meet the growing demands of quality health care services at affordable cost.
India’s health care sector has been growing at a significant rate and is one of the largest sectors with regard to revenue generation & employment. Since 2000’s India has been experiencing a large inflow of foreign medical tourists. These tourists are preferring to come to India for surgery, knee transplantation, hip replacement, dental problems etc and not just only for vacations.
This paper will help to understand the concept of medical Tourism clearly and emphasize on the possible reasons for foreign tourists to availing medical services in India ,the countries from which Medical tourists come to India .This paper will also help in understanding the factors and working mechanism of Medical tourism in India and list out the medical services availed by them in India.
