Abstract The rapid transition towards sustainable transportation has significantly increased consumer interest in electric vehicles (EVs) across India. This study examines the consumer buying behavior towards electric vehicles in Bagalkot, a developing district with rising urbanization and environmental awareness. The research analyzes key factors influencing purchase decisions, including consumer perceptions, environmental concern, economic benefits, technological features, cost considerations, charging infrastructure availability, and government incentives. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of residents in Bagalkot to evaluate their attitudes, preferences, and barriers related to EV adoption. The findings reveal that environmental consciousness and long-term cost savings are major drivers of purchase intention, while high initial price, limited charging facilities, and range anxiety act as significant barriers. The study concludes that improving charging infrastructure, increasing awareness, and strengthening policy support can enhance EV adoption in Bagalkot.
