| Abstract | Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's intellectual and political legacy gives us a lot of information about the ideology of self-reliance as a strategy to gain power in society. Ambedkar's vision was based on his lifetime fight against caste discrimination, economic marginalisation, and social exclusion. He believed that true freedom comes from the ability of people and communities to build dignity, agency, and independence. His idea of self-reliance went beyond just being financially independent; it also included getting an education, being involved in politics, and standing up for human rights. Ambedkar thought that education was the most important way to empower people, giving them the tools they needed to fight against unfair systems and take back their place in society. His support for constitutional democracy, social fairness, and equal opportunity shows that he believes that self-reliance should work within a system that protects freedom and allows everyone to make progress. Ambedkar stressed the importance of people taking action on their own to break down systems of exploitation by encouraging communities to organise, educate, and protest. His ideas are still relevant today as a guide for how to fix structural inequities, encourage social mobility, and support development that includes everyone. This paper looks at Ambedkar's idea of self-reliance as a multidimensional way to empower people and how it relates to education, economics, politics, and social change. The study puts Ambedkar's thoughts in the context of today's fights for fairness and justice. |
