Abstract Women in Meghalaya khasi matrilineal society face limited participation and decision-making authority in the Dorbar Shnong, a traditional village council governed by male-centric customary laws. This study assesses women's involvement using mixed-method research, highlighting socio-cultural, institutional, and legal barriers to promote inclusive governance.
