| Abstract | Forensic odontology is a vital branch of forensic science that applies dental knowledge to legal investigations, particularly in the identification of individuals and analysis of evidence related to criminal activities. Owing to the durability and individuality of dental structures, teeth and associated oral tissues serve as reliable tools in forensic investigations, even under extreme conditions such as fire, trauma, and decomposition. This review article highlights the principles, methods, applications, and recent advancements in forensic odontology, emphasizing its role in the detection and reduction of crime rates. The review also discusses limitations and future perspectives, underscoring the importance of trained forensic odontologists in strengthening the criminal justice system. |
