Abstract Academic credential verification is essential but traditional systems are slow, costly, and prone to fraud due to their reliance on centralized databases and manual processes. This study proposes a decentralized verification system using blockchain technology to enhance security, transparency, and efficiency. Academic credentials are issued as digital records, secured through cryptographic hashing, and stored on a distributed ledger, making them tamper-proof and easily verifiable. The system enables authorized institutions to upload credentials, while students and employers can quickly access and verify them. By eliminating intermediaries and automating verification through smart contracts, the proposed solution reduces verification time, prevents fraud, and improves trust. Overall, the system offers a reliable and scalable approach to modernizing academic credential verification.
