Participatory Psychosocial Development Theory (PPDT): Human Formation and the Sustainability of Institutions

Author(s) Ms. Allen Knight Kabbibbi
Country Uganda
Abstract Across many countries, systems are built with the expectation that they will produce stability, accountability, and development. Yet outcomes remain uneven. Some systems function consistently, while others struggle—even when they appear similar. This paper introduces Participatory Psychosocial Development Theory (PPDT), a new framework that explains this difference. It shows that: systems depend on behaviour, behaviour depends on human development =, and development determines whether systems function. At the centre of the analysis is the Structural Psychosocial Gap (SPG)—the gap between what systems require and what people are able to do. The paper provides a clear explanation of why systems fail or succeed a practical development process (PPDM), a framework for building alignment at scale (APPDF), a measurement tool for real behaviour (ADI). This work bridges psychology, development, and governance, offering both theory and practical direction. The central message is simple: No system can function beyond the level of the people who run it. This paper is for policymakers, educators, development practitioners, institutional leaders, anyone interested in sustainable development.
