Abstract According to the Devi Bhagavata, Shakti exists as the soul in all living beings, and when acreature is devoid of Shakti, it becomes as inert as a corpse (shabavat). According to thisPurana, the Supreme Being (Parama Purusha) is divided into two parts—one part isSat-Chit-Ananda (Truth-Consciousness-Bliss) and the second part is Parashakti (SupremeEnergy) or Mayashakti (Cosmic Illusion).
