Teaching English Literature under NEP 2020 in Tripura: Problems and Possibilities

Author(s) Mr. RAJIB MAJUMDER
Country India
Abstract The article argues that the successful implementation of NEP 2020 in Tripura depends not merely on curriculum revision but on a comprehensive transformation of pedagogical philosophy. English literature teaching must become more inclusive, culturally responsive, technologically supported, and interdisciplinary. Rather than viewing English as a language detached from local realities, educators should position it as a medium through which students engage with their own histories, cultures, and identities while participating in global academic discourse. The study proposes a contextual pedagogical framework specifically designed for Tripura that combines multilingual instruction, experiential learning, local literary traditions, and digital innovation. Such an approach can strengthen students' linguistic competence, literary appreciation, critical thinking, and employability while preserving the state's diverse cultural heritage.
