AI Exposure and Career Anxiety amongst Indian College Students

| Abstract | As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies rapidly develop and are deployed, Indian students increasingly need to understand and learn AI-related skills for future employment. This study examines the effect of AI exposure and Career Anxiety on Indian College students. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through an online survey facilitated by Google Forms, asking 30 Indian college-going students about their opinions on certain AI scales. All valid responses were analysed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results show that AI exposure, Career Anxiety and various other parameters like Career Self-Efficacy and Job Seeking Anxiety have a paradigm effect on the careers of Indian students. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the adaptive role of Career Anxiety in transforming AI-related fear into proactive upskilling intention among undergraduate students and offers practical implications for higher education institutions and policymakers in responding to AI-driven labour market change. |
