Jungle Jalebi (Pithecellobium dulce (Roxb.) Benth.):A Useful Medicinal Plant

Abstract This plant holds significant medicinal value. Known as 'Jungle Jalebi,' it is also referred to by some as 'English' or 'Vilayati' (foreign) tamarind. Various scientific studies have established its medicinal importance, demonstrating properties such as anti-venom, antibacterial, spermicidal, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, antifungal, larvicidal, antidiarrheal, antidiabetic, and anti-tubercular activity. It also plays a crucial role in atmospheric nitrogen fixation. Additionally, tribal communities utilize it for various medicinal purposes.
