Evaluation of Academic Library Websites in Tamilnadu and Puducherry

Abstract	The study entitled “Evaluation of Academic Library Websites in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry” explores the results of the efficiency of academic library websites in providing information to the end users. To accomplish the objectives of research, a data sheet was designed to collect the data from 7 Academic Library websites. It included questions on the parameters such as Quality of Website design, Information Accuracy, Current information, Extensive of the coverage information, Content analysis and Resources availability. All the websites of the selected Libraries were browsed and recorded the data in the data sheet.It was found that there is a significant demand for the provision of generic tools to support Academic information functions of Library services. There is an overall lack of awareness as to what e-information tools and services already exist world-wide. Ultimately, the quality of information will be enhanced by engaging students/users through library portal provided on Academic Library websites.
