Analysis of the FOXP2 Gene Across Vertebrate Species

Author(s) Manasi Choube
Country United States
Abstract The FOXP2 gene is a highly conserved transcription factor that plays a critical role in neural development and communication. It has been extensively studied due to its association with speech and language in humans. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the FOXP2 gene across five species: humans (Homo Sapiens), chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), mice (Mus musculus), chickens (Gallus gallus), and zebrafish (Danio rerio). By examining sequence conservation, structural domains, and functional differences, this study highlights how small genetic variations contribute to significant phenotypic differences, particularly in communication and vocalization.
