| Abstract | Earthquakes pose a significant threat to multistorey reinforced concrete (RC) buildings due to excessive lateral displacement and inter-storey drift in conventional moment-resisting frames. This study evaluates the seismic performance of a G+20 RC building incorporating shear walls, X-bracing, friction dampers, and fluid viscous dampers. Nonlinear Time History Analysis is performed in ETABS using Bhuj (2001) and Northridge earthquake records. Seismic response is assessed in terms of displacement, drift, base shear, and time period. The results indicate that all lateral load-resisting systems improve seismic performance compared to the bare frame, with fluid viscous dampers providing the most effective displacement and drift control due to superior energy dissipation, thereby enhancing the seismic resilience of high-rise RC buildings. |
