Abstract This paper highlights the contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh in establishing the first Legislature Assembly in Jammu and kashmir State.The Jammu Kashmir Regulation No.1 of 1991 Samvat, corresponding to the Constitution Act of 1934,The Act provided for the reconstitution of the government of the State and the institution of a legislative Assembly.The Constitution Act envisaged the institution of a Legislative body,which comprised,The council of Ministers and the legislative Assembly (Praja Sabha)was established.
