Women Empowerment in the Industrial Area of Harohalli: A Study Based on 60 Respondents

Abstract Women’s empowerment is an important component of inclusive economic and social development. Industrial employment can provide women with income, employment security, social recognition, decision-making opportunities, and greater independence. The present study examines the status of women empowerment among women working in the industrial area of Harohalli, Karnataka. The study is based on primary data collected from 60 women respondents working in or associated with industrial activities in Harohalli. The study examines various dimensions of empowerment, including economic independence, employment opportunities, decision-making, workplace participation, access to training, awareness of rights, and work-life balance. The study adopts a descriptive research design, and data are proposed to be analyzed using percentage analysis and other appropriate statistical techniques. The findings indicate the importance of industrial employment in improving women's financial independence and social participation, while challenges such as wage differences, limited career advancement, workplace facilities, transportation, family responsibilities, and awareness of employment rights may continue to affect empowerment. The study suggests strengthening skill development, workplace safety, equal opportunities, welfare measures, and awareness programmes for women workers.
